Danger!

Risk of explosion caused by fuel vapors igniting, risk of poisoning caused by inhaling combustible gases and risk of injury caused by burns during and after operation of heater unit

Do not operate stationary heater, auxiliary heater or engine with heater booster in closed areas or when refueling. Allow heater unit to cool down after operation and wear protective gloves.

Pinch off coolant hoses (2, 3)

Danger!

Risk of injury to skin and eyes suffering scalding from contact with hot coolant spray. Risk of poisoning from swallowing coolant.

Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90 °C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage bottles.

Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and eye protection.

Detach coolant hoses (2, 3) from heater unit (4)

Collect escaping coolant in a clean vessel.

Danger!

Risk of explosion caused by fuel igniting, risk of poisoning caused by inhaling and swallowing fuel as well as risk of injury to eyes and skin caused by contact with fuel.

No fire, sparks, open flames or smoking.
Pour fuels only into suitable and appropriately marked containers.

Wear protective clothing when handling fuel.

Remove fuel line (1) from heater unit (4)

Seal fuel line using suitable plug.

Disconnect 2-pin and 8-pin connector

Disconnect (X164, X165)

Unclip suction line (7) from both brackets (arrows) on the front-end side panel

Undo screw (5) on front end and rear side of heater unit bracket (6)

Remove bracket (arrow) of exhaust gas line (8) from left wheelhouse and remove exhaust gas line downwards from heater unit

Remove heater from heater unit bracket

Disconnect exhaust gas line from heater unit

Install in the reverse order

Danger!

Risk of accident caused by vehicle starting off by itself when engine is running. Risk of injury caused by contusions and burns when working in engine during starting procedure

Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving.
Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes.
Do not grasp hot or rotating parts.

Start the engine and allow it to warm to its normal operating temperature

Allow engine to run for approx.
1 minute at varying speed.

Check engine coolant level and top up with coolant if necessary

Turn off engine

Check coolant hose and fuel line connections on heater unit for signs of any leaks

17

Check auxiliary heater/heater booster for proper operation

Remove/install heater unit
