Remove

Switch off ignition.

Remove activated charcoal particle filter.



Remove underfloor paneling in area of condensation drain.

Place suitable receptacle under condensation drains.

Condensation drains are located in the area of the cross strut.



Clean

Insert probe (1) of pressure-feed spray gun into evaporator housing, as shown.


Insert probe (1) carefully and not too far.
Otherwise, the evaporator (2) may be damaged by the probe (1).

Use suitable rag to seal openings on air conditioner housing.


Cleaner must not enter the vehicle interior.
Otherwise damage and contamination can occur.

Operate pressure-feed spray gun and spray the evaporator (2) by moving the probe (1) to and fro.

 Spraying area (a). Approx. Spray 1 l of cleaner. After doing so, allow the cleaner a period of at least 30 minutes to act.

Check if any cleaner leaks out through the condensation drains.

If the cleaner is not discharged or is only discharged in drips,



check condensation drains for contamination and clean, if necessary.

 Warning

Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

Start engine and switch on air conditioning system.

Actuate air conditioning system using diagnostic device.

Open all doors on vehicle.

Adjust the air distribution so that the air flow exist through the center air vents and run the blower for a period of at least 5 minutes at the highest stage.


The evaporator (2) will only be fully cleaned when these instruction is observed.
Otherwise, bacteria, mold and germs will still be left on the evaporator (2) and the odor will not be completely removed.

 Leave the doors on the vehicle open.

Disconnect diagnostic unit.

Install

Remove receptacle.
