Never perform welding work on or near a closed air conditioning system. No smoking or open flames. Wear safety glasses and protective gloves. Work only in well ventilated areas. Carry out repair work on the air conditioning system circuit only after the system has been drained.

Drain air conditioning system

 Installation: Evacuate, refill and check air conditioner for proper operation and leaks.

Disconnect battery ground line

Remove headliner

 Installation: Mount headliner only after charging and testing the air conditioning.

Detach condensation drain hoses (1) from roof air conditioning (A32)

 Installation: Check screw clamps and condensation drain hoses (1) for damage, replace if necessary.

Replace cable tie.

Remove air ducts on both sides.

Unscrew nuts (7) and remove refrigerant lines (2, 3)

 Installation: Fit refrigerant lines (2, 3) with new seals (10). Coat sealing rings (10) with compressor oil.



Seal off each opening on refrigerant lines (2, 3) using stop plugs

Seal off each opening at the connecting point for the roof air conditioning (A32) using stop plugs

Disconnect electrical connector (6)

Unscrew nuts (5) and remove electrical line (4)



Remove roof air conditioning cover

Unscrew nuts (12) on both sides and remove washers (13)

 The roof air conditioning (A32) is fastened on each side of the vehicle roof using three nuts (12).

 Installation: Install new nuts (12).

Route lifting straps (11) on both sides through the mounting consoles (14) of the roof air conditioning (A32)

Remove roof air conditioning (A32) using suitable hoisting gear from the roof

 Aid of helper required.



Check

Check sealing of roof air conditioning (A32) for signs of damage, replace sealing if necessary



Cleaning

Clean contact surfaces of roof air conditioning (A32) on vehicle roof

19

Replace fluid reservoir

 After completing the work at the open refrigerant circuit, the accumulator must be replaced.
