Danger | Risk of death when working on component parts and systems with U >= 30 V alternating voltage (AC) or U >= 60 V direct voltage (DC) | Do not touch damaged or defective live component parts and lines or non-insulated electrical connections and lines.
Danger | Risk of explosion/risk of fire caused by highly flammable materials in the vicinity of damaged xenon bulbs. Risk of injury caused by UV light, hot components on xenon headlamps and glass splinters produced by bursting xenon bulbs. Risk of poisoning caused by inhalation of mercury vapors and by swallowing of/skin contact with toxic salts and mercury compounds. | Do not touch parts conducting high voltage. Persons with active electronic implants (e.g. cardiac pacemakers) must never work on xenon headlamps. Switch off the entire lighting system. Wear insulated safety shoes, safety glasses and protective gloves. Remove highly inflammable materials from the danger zone. Ensure sufficient ventilation in the working area.
1 | Switch off the ignition and remove the transmitter key from the EIS control unit
2 | Open engine hood and secure against falling down
3 | Remove air pump | Vehicles with code P98 (Black Series) when removing the left xenon headlamp ignition module (E1n2)
4 | Turn housing cover (low beam) (1) on left/right front lamp unit (E1/E2) to left and remove | Installation: Ensure that the housing cover (low beam) (1) is seated correctly.
5 | Disconnect electrical coupling (3) from xenon headlamp ignition module (E1n2/E2n2)
6 | Turn xenon headlamp ignition module (E1n2/E2n2) to left and pull out carefully with left/right low beam (E1e2/E2e2) | Installation:
The left xenon headlamp ignition module (E1n2) with left low beam (E1e2) and the right xenon headlamp ignition module (E2n2) with right low beam (E2e2) are one part each and can only be replaced together.
7 | Install in the reverse order
