Move Vario roof with Vario roof switch to intermediate position and secure

Remove covering (1) from left and right C-pillar

Remove support for securing intermediate position of Vario roof and close Vario roof with Vario roof switch



Checking

Check distance (A) between Bowden cable eyelet (4) and clip-type fastener (5), adjust if necessary

 After closing the Vario roof, the gate valve (12) should run into the cam (3) so that the gap (A) is present between the Bowden cable eyelet (4) and the clip-type fastener (5).

Move Vario roof with Vario roof switch to intermediate position and secure

Remove left and right cover sleeve (10), loosen jam nut (11) and screw in rear window buffer (9)

 The rear window buffer (9) should not make contact when the Vario roof is closed.

Remove support for securing intermediate position of Vario roof and close Vario roof with Vario roof switch



Loosen bolts (2) on left and right C-pillar

Adjust cam (3) on left and right C-pillar by twisting

Tighten bolts (2) on left and right C-pillar



Remove left and right rear window buffer (9) up to stop

Move Vario roof with Vario roof switch to intermediate position and secure

Turn left and right rear window buffer (9) back one turn, tighten jam nut (11) and insert cover sleeve (10)



Checking

Remove support for securing intermediate position of Vario roof and close Vario roof with Vario roof switch



Check adjustment of cam (3) on left and right C-pillar

 After closing the Vario roof, the gate valve (12) should run into the cam (3) so that the gap (A) is present between the Bowden cable eyelet (4) and the clip-type fastener (5).

Slightly press down Vario roof on left and right C-pillar (arrows)

 Vario roof should spring back in this area.

Check height offset (B) between Vario roof front section (7) and heated rear window (R1) at several points using a straight edge (6); adjust if necessary.

 The difference of the height offset (B) between the left and right side should be max. 2 mm.

Move Vario roof switch to intermediate position using Vario roof switch

Leave ignition switched on. The Vario roof is not in a confirmed end position and the stop function starts.

It stops the Vario roof for 7 minutes in the current position. After expiration of this time, the Vario roof moves to the next mechanical end position by force of gravity

The stop function can be increased by an additional 7 min. by actuating the Vario roof switch again.

Remove left and right cover sleeve (10), loosen locknut (11) and adjust Vario roof front section (7) in relation to heated rear window (R1) by turning rear window buffer (9)

 After adjusting, tighten jam nut (11) and insert cover sleeve (10).

Close Vario roof with Vario roof switch

Check adjustment of cam (3) on left and right C-pillar, correct if necessary

 If the adjustment of the cam (3) is changed, check adjustment of rear window buffer (9) again and correct if necessary. The adjustment of the cam (3) and rear window buffer (9) have a reciprocal influence.

Install

Install cover (1) on left and right C-pillar

 Install assembly wedge between cover (1) and gate valve (12) to prevent pulling the cover (1) toward the gate valve (12) when tightening.


