Remove/install

Remove front door trim.

Set down front door trim on suitable base.

Tighten screws (1 to 9) in numerical sequence.

Installation: First slightly attach screws (1 to 9) by hand and then tighten in indicated order.

Unclip and remove trim element (10).

Remove ambient lighting from armrest (16).

Release driver's side power window and outside mirror adjustment switch group (S20) and/or front passenger side power window switch (S21/2) and remove in upward direction.

Remove inside door opener (12).

Drill plastic spot welds (13) of the armrest(16).

If armrest (16) has been plastics welded.


Observe drilling and cutting depth.
Armrest (16) or basic carrier can otherwise be damaged by drilling through.

Installation: Screw armrest (16) onto plastic spot welds (13).
The number of screws required corresponds to the number of plastic spot welds drilled (13).

Operate cordless drill/driver with a spot facer (17) for cutting off plastic spot welds (13) at high drilling speed and low operating speed.
Aim for an undercut of up to 2 mm in order to ensure sufficient preload.
Use spot facer (17), M4 according to DIN 373 with head diameter 8 mm and pin diameter 3.3 mm.

Commercially available devices/tools
Cordless drill/screwdriver

If plastic flowed into the plastic spot welds (13) during welding,

redrill plastic spot welds (13) with a drill bit Ø 3.5 mm.

Remove screws from plastic spot welds (13).

If armrest (16) has been screwed on.

Remove screws (14).

Remove armrest (16).

Remove inside door handle.

If armrest (16) will be replaced.

Remove beltline trim.

If armrest (16) will be replaced.

Install in the reverse order.
