Remove

Remove door trim of front door.

Release driver's side power window and outside mirror adjustment switch group (S20) and/or front passenger side power window switch (S21/2) and remove in upward direction.

Remove screw/bolts (2) .

Remove cover panel from door handle (1).

Remove bolt (3) .

Release door handle (1) at rear side and guide out towards front from carrier (4).

Remove inside door opener (5).

Drill out plastic spot welds (4s) of carrier (4).

If the carrier (4) has been plastics welded.


Observe drilling and cutting depth.
Carrier (4) or armrest will otherwise be damaged by drilling through.

 Operate cordless drill/driver with spot facer for cutting out plastic spot welds (4s) at high drilling speed and low operating speed.
Aim for an undercut of up to 2 mm in order to ensure sufficient preload.
Use spot facer, M4 according to DIN 373 with head diameter 8 mm and pin diameter 3.3 mm.

 Commercially available devices/tools
Cordless drill/screwdriver

If plastic flowed into the plastic spot welds (4s) during welding,



redrill plastic spot welds (4s) with a drill bit Ø 3.5 mm.

Remove screws from plastic spot welds (4s).

If the carrier (4) has been screwed on.

Remove screws (6).

Remove carrier (4).



Install

Install cover panel in door handle (1).

Install door handle (1) in carrier (4) and screw in bolts (2).


Ensure inner retaining clip is correctly seated.
Door handle (1) and carrier (4) will otherwise be damaged.

Install carrier (4).


Ensure retaining clip (7) is corrected seated in door handle (1).
Door handle (1) and retaining clip (7) will otherwise be damaged.

Screw in screws (3, 6).

Install inside door opener (5).

Screw on carrier (4) at plastic spot welds (4s).

 The number of screws required corresponds to the number of plastic spot welds drilled (4s).

Install driver's side power window and outside mirror adjustment switch group (S20) and/or front passenger side power window switch (S21/2).
