Remove/install rear window in Vario roof

Removing



Do not loosen bolts (13) on rear window mount (5), because they are adjusted at the factory and cannot be positioned to the correct position without jig.

Danger!

Risk of injury caused by body parts being trapped or crushed when working on partially open Vario roof (stop mode) or in its closing area as a result of the Vario roof suddenly collapsing

Secure Vario roof with a suitable special tool.

Move Vario roof to intermediate position with soft top switch and secure

Remove C-pillar paneling from Vario roof

Remove paneling from Vario roof rear section

Loosen threaded connections for left and right line brackets (2) on window frame and remove electrical lines for rear window heater from line brackets (2)

Disconnect left and right electrical connector (3) from rear window heater

Remove rear window antenna amplifier module (A2/12) from upper rear window frame

Use a suitable punch to press rubber elements (4) back and out of left and right rear window mounts (5)

 Observe installation position of electric leads

Remove adjustment cam (7) together with locking pin (8)

 Mark installation position.

Loosen grub screw (9) on left and right rear window mounts (5)

 Grub screw (9) serves for retaining bolt (10).

Unscrew bolts (10) on left and right rear window mounts (5)

Remove heated rear window (R1) upward horizontally

 Aid of helper required.

Unclip paneling (11) from clips (12) with assembly wedge and remove

When replacing heated rear window (R1).

Install

Clip in paneling (11)

When replacing heated rear window (R1).

Move heated rear window (R1) horizontally from top between C-pillars to installation position

 Aid of helper required.

Screw bolt (10) into left and right rear window mounts (5)



Screw grub screws (9) into left and right rear window mounts (5)

Install adjustment cam (7) together with locating pins (8)

 Observe markings.

Coat rubber elements (4) with liquid lubricant and install in left and right rear window mounts (5)

 Replace retaining clip (6) with cable strap.

Install rear window antenna amplifier module (A2/12)

 For this purpose, route antenna cable (14) into wiring duct (15) and fasten in area of bolt (16) with suitable sealant (17).

Connect left and right electrical connector (3)

Fasten electrical lines of rear window heater in left and right line bracket (2) and tighten line bracket (2)

Check lock on C-pillar, adjust if necessary

Remove support and close Vario roof with convertible top switch
