The following steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle and must be accomplished analogously on the right side in the event of damage.

1 | Mark separating point on side wall paneling (1) and cut (area A). |
2 | Punch holes for MAG welding on side wall paneling (1) (area B). |
3 | Grind down mating surfaces to bare metal on sidewall paneling (1) in crosshatched areas and around the holes (areas B). |
Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides. |
4 | Remove shavings and drill chips. |
5 | Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint. |
Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint (areas C and D). |
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces (areas C and D). |

6 | Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal on sidewall paneling (1) in crosshatched areas. |
Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides. |
7 | Remove shavings and drill chips. |
8 | Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint. |
Do not coat bonding surface (area E) with zinc dust paint. |
Observe pretreatment of bonding surface (area E). |

9 | Grind mating surfaces at lock striker reinforcement (2) and reinforcement (3) down to bare metal in crosshatched areas. |
Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides. |
10 | Remove shavings and drill chips. |
11 | Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint. |
Do not coat bonding surface (area F) with zinc dust paint. |
Observe pretreatment of bonding surface (area F). |
12 | Apply sealant to reinforcement (3). |
13 | Apply 2-component adhesive to reinforcement (3) (area F). |
Observe pretreatment of bonding surface (area F). Refer to the manufacturer's information for the curing and working times of 2-component adhesive. |
14 | Install lock striker reinforcement (2) and reinforcement (3) in side wall paneling (1), fit and fix in place. |
15 | Lock striker reinforcement (2) and reinforcement (3) (areas G and H). |
16 | Clean weld joints. |
17 | Remove shavings and drill chips. |
18 | Apply zinc dust paint to insides of spot weld flange (areas G and H). |
19 | Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal on rear sidewall paneling bottom section (4) in crosshatched areas and around the holes. |
Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides. |
20 | Remove shavings and drill chips. |
21 | Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint. |
