Remove, install catalytic converter diesel particulate filter unit

Remove/install

Remove trim panel of cylinder head cover

Disconnect temperature sensor connector upstream of diesel particulate filter (B19/9x1)

Remove cable tie (12) and loosen the wiring harness (8) of the temperature sensor upstream of diesel particulate filter (B19/9) from the bracket (7)

Unscrew the bolt (19) of the catalytic converter diesel particulate unit (3) at the crankcase

 Installation: Install new self-locking bolt (19)



Unscrew bolt (10) and remove bracket (5) for purge lines (4)

Loosen hose clamps (11) and pull the purge hoses (6) out of the purge lines (4)

 Pay attention to the installation position of the purge hoses (6) at the purge lines (4).

Loosen O2 sensor connector upstream TWC [KAT] (G3/2x1) from the bracket (1) and disconnect.

Unscrew bolt (9) and detach clamp (2)



Detach lower engine compartment paneling

Unscrew bolt (17) and detach clamp (18)



Unscrew bolt (15) and nut (16), remove bracket (14) and remove the catalytic converter diesel particulate filter unit (3) with sealing ring from below

 Installation: Replace self-locking bolt (15) and nut (16) of bracket (14).

Unscrew O2 sensor upstream three way catalytic converter (G3/2)

When replacing the catalytic converter diesel particulate filter unit (3).



Unscrew purge lines (4) at the catalytic converter diesel particulate filter unit (3) and remove

When replacing the catalytic converter diesel particulate filter unit (3).

Unscrew the temperature sensor upstream of the diesel particulate filter (B19/9) from the catalytic converter diesel particulate filter unit (3)

When replacing the catalytic converter diesel particulate filter unit (3).

 Installation: Coat temperature sensor upstream of DPF (B19/9) with heat-resistant lubricant prior to installation.



Install in the reverse order

 Danger!

Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving by itself.
Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes.
Do not grasp hot or rotating parts.

Perform engine test run and check exhaust system around the catalytic converter diesel particulate filter unit (3) for leaks

Read out fault memory, erase if necessary



Connect STAR DIAGNOSIS and read out fault memory
