5 | Loosen mounting clamp (5) on filler neck hose (1) and detach filler neck hose (1) on fuel tank (7) | Installation: Check condition of seal (6); replace if necessary. An excessively high tightening torque for the mounting clamp (5) leads to clamping of the non-return throttle valve in the fuel tank fitting (7). | |
Collect escaping fuel. | |||
6 | Unlock and unplug connector on vent tube (3) (arrow) | Only for vehicles up to VIN 407'850. | |
7 | Unscrew cover (11) in left rear wheel arch and detach clamp on vent tube (3) | Only for vehicles with code T19 (left load compartment sliding door) | |
8 | Unscrew bolts (10) | Installation: Observe electrical conductivity of the threaded connection. The thread must be kept free of oil and grease. | |

9 | Remove mounting frame bow and lower fuel tank (7) slowly until the vent tube is accessible | Only for vehicles from VIN 407'851. | |
Secure fuel tank (1) using a suitable jack stand against falling down. Install new self-locking bolts (3). Do not damage radiator-mounted components. | |||
Observe installation position of shims (4). | |||

10 | Cut off clamp from vent tube (3) on fuel tank (7) and detach vent tube (3) | Only for vehicles from VIN 407'851. | |
Collect escaping fuel. Fit a new hose clamp. | |||
11 | Lead vent tube (3) through the longitudinal member frame | The protective hose can fall down. | |
12 | Remove grommets (2, 4) and take out filler neck hose (1) or vent tube (3) | The grommets (2, 4) must be installed correctly. | |
13 | Take out filler neck hose (1) with vent tube (3) upwards | ||
14 | Install in the reverse order | ||

15 | Check fuel system in the area of the fuel tank (7) for leaktightness |
