1 | Detach wheels on front axle | ||
2 | Detach stabilizer bar from front axle | ||
3 | Detach tie rod ball heads from steering knuckles and remove tie rod ball head on the driver side | ||
4 | Unscrew jam nut of tie rod ball head on driver side | ||
5 | Remove engine mount on driver's side | ||
6 | Detach flexible high-pressure hose (4) and return hose (5) from steering gear (1) | ||

7 | Turn steering wheel to center position and allow steering wheel lock to engage | ||
8 | Remove bolt (3) from universal joint (2) | ||
9 | Detach universal joint (2) from steering column | ||
10 | Detach steering gear (1) from the front axle | ||
| Install | ||
11 | Convert steering parts | When replacing steering gear (1). | |
Screw-in fitting in steering | |||
12 | Convert tie rod ball head on passenger side | When replacing steering gear (1). | |
13 | Turn steering wheel to the left | ||
14 | Install steering gear (1) | ||
Replace bolts (10). | |||
Bolt, steering gear to front axle carrier | |||
15 | Screw jam nut and tie rod ball head on driver side onto tie rod | Tighten jam nut during wheel alignment only. | |
16 | Move steering gear (1) into center position | ||
17 | Position universal joint (2) on steering column and tighten bolt (3) | ||
Replace bolt (3). | |||

18 | Mount ball heads to steering knuckle | ||
19 | Mount flexible high-pressure hose (4) and return hose (5) to steering gear (1) and remove clamps | ||
Return line to steering gear | |||
High-pressure line to steering gear | |||

21 | Fill and bleed steering system | ||
| Check | ||
22 | Check toe, correct if necessary | ||
23 | Check center position of steering | If necessary, offset the universal joint (2) by one tooth. | |
