2 | Turn steering wheel to center position and allow steering wheel lock to engage | The position of the steering gear must not be changed throughout the entire work procedure. | |
If the position of the steering gear is inadvertently changed. | |||

3 | Remove central electric unit | ||
4 | Remove clock spring contact | ||
Unscrew retaining bolts just enough to be able to remove the clock spring contact. Do not twist or disassemble the clock spring contact. | |||
5 | Remove steering angle sensor | ||
6 | Remove combination switch | ||
7 | Detach spring for brake pedal from steering column | ||
8 | Remove bolt (1) from universal joint (2) | Installation: Replace bolt (1). | |

9 | Remove bolts (3) from bracket on steering column | Steering column tube of steering shaft to belt rail | |
10 | Press steering shaft with universal joint (2) off steering gear drive shaft | ||
11 | Pull steering shaft out of rubber grommet at floor of vehicle | Installation: Ensure that the rubber grommet is properly seated on the cab floor. | |
12 | Install in the reverse order |
