Remove/install

Danger!

Risk of poisoning from swallowing brake fluid. Risk of injury from skin and eye contact with brake fluid.

Pour brake fluid only into suitable and appropriately marked containers. Wear protective clothing and eye protection when handling brake fluid.

Switch vehicle to Service Mode

 With code CL0 (air suspension).

Remove brake pads on rear axle

Disconnect brake hose from brake caliper (1)

Place a suitable vessel underneath to collect the escaping brake fluid.

Remove cap (4)

Unscrew bolts (2, 3) on brake caliper (1)



Remove brake caliper (1)

Unscrew brake caliper (1) from brake hose

When installing the brake hose, ensure that it is not twisted.



Cleaning

Clean exterior of brake caliper (1)



Inspecting

Check that piston, dust caps, brake hoses and sealing rings of brake caliper are in acceptable condition

 Replace any damaged parts!

Check that brake pads are in acceptable condition

 Replace if undersize!



Check brake lining thickness

Check brake system for leaks

Before operating the vehicle, fully depress the brake pedal several times until pressure is built up

 Perform road test to check function of brake system and to run in the brake linings.
