Check oil level in rear axle differential, correct if necessary

Check oil level at interior temperature only and not when the rear axle differential is at operating temperature.
Otherwise, required oil may escape when the rear axle differential is warm.
Cleaning

Clean area around oil filler screw (50 g).

Remove oil filler screw (50 g).


Replace oil filler screw (50g).



Check

Check and correct oil level. Model 257 with engine 256
  Model 290 with engine 256 


With the correct oil level the oil reaches up to the bottom edge of the threaded hole.
If necessary, add oil or drain off oil until the oil only drips out of the threaded hole.



Cleaning

threaded hole in rear axle differential with cleaning spray .


The oil filler screw (50g) and tapped hole must be free from oil and grease.

Apply one drop of to lower third of thread of oil filler screw (50g).

Screw oil filler screw (50g) immediately into the rear axle differential and tighten to the specified torque   .
