Remove

Remove left or right rear wheel

Drain transmission oil

Unscrew bolt (2)

Lower rear axle cross member (4) until it is unstressed

 Do not release the bolted connections on the control arms (5).

Position commercially available puller (3) on the wheel hub to match the hole circle and tighten with the threaded rods (3.1)

By screwing in the spindle (3.2) release the rear axle shaft (1) from the wheel hub and move out


Secure ball joints of rear axle shaft (1) against excessive bending or pulling apart.
Otherwise, the ball joints on the rear axle shaft (1) may be damaged.

 The axle tube (6) can be moved slightly sidewards to create the necessary space for extending the rear axle shaft (1).

Remove puller (3)

Using impact extractor (7) and puller tool (8) to pull rear-axle shaft (1) out of transmission and pull out

 Helper required.

 Position the  puller tool (8) to match the contour of the rear axle shaft (1) (arrow A).

Remove radial shaft sealing ring

Install

Install new radial shaft sealing ring

Slide rear axle shaft (1) up to end stop in the transmission

 The rear axle shaft (1) must engage in the transmission.

Guide rear axle shaft (1) into wheel hub


Secure ball joints of rear axle shaft (1) against excessive bending or pulling apart.
Otherwise, the ball joints on the rear axle shaft (1) may be damaged.

Screw in bolt (2) to stop

Install rear axle cross member (4)

Fill with transmission oil

Mount left or right rear wheel

AR40.10-P-1100SR

Tighten screw (2)

 The vehicle must be in a stalled condition.

 Bolt, rear axle shaft to wheel bearing

Check

18

Perform a test drive and check transmission for leaktightness
