Remove/install

Remove voltage of high-voltage on-board electrical system.

Raise vehicle and fix in place on vehicle lift.

Drain pressure of air suspension at rear axle using vehicle diagnosis system.



Switch off ignition and store transmitter key outside of transmitter range (min. 2 m).

Remove rear wheels.

Remove underfloor paneling.

Seal coolant hoses (6, 7, 9) with clamping devices.

Remove coolant hose (7, 9) from axle drive module (10) and collect leaking coolant in suitable container.

Disconnect coolant hose (6) from connection (8) and collect leaking coolant in suitable container.

Seal connections of coolant hoses (6, 7, 9) using suitable stop plugs.

Expose coolant hoses (6, 7) on rear axle carrier (5).

Remove equipotential bonding line (12) from axle drive module (10).

Disconnect electrical connectors (13).

Disconnect electrical connectors (14) from rear level sensors (B22/7 B22/10) and unclip electrical line (15).

Support rear axle using an assembly mount and mounting plate.



Remove bolts (16).

 Installation: Replace bolts (16).

 Self-locking bolt securing rear decoupling element of rear axle carrier to frame floor assembly

Lower rear axle at rear until elastomer bearings (2) can be removed.

Remove elastomer bearings (2).

 Always replace the elastomer bearings (2) in pairs.
