Measure
1 Measure wheel bearing play. To do this, fit dial gauge, dial gauge holder and extension at front wheel hub so that the probe of the dial gauge touches the front of the steering knuckle. Check play by forcefully pushing or pulling the front wheel hub.
The wheel bearing play can be changed by slackening or tightening the inner slotted nut.
Observe specified wheel bearing play.

Adjust
2 Bend open lock plate.

3 Unscrew outer slotted nut with claw-type wrench.

4 Remove lock plate.

5 Slacken inner slotted nut with claw-type wrench and tighten again by continuously turning the drum hub.
Pay attention to tightening torque (initial torque)
6 Turn back inner slotted nut and then tighten until it touches the thrust washer without play. Then turn back 1/8 turn.
7 Install locking plate.
8 Fit outer slotted nut and tighten using claw-type wrench.
Pay attention to tightening torque.
Only bend lock plate after wheel bearing play is adjusted correctly.

9 The wheel bearing play must be measured again, repeat adjustment if necessary.
10 Once wheel bearing play is adjusted correctly, secure outer slotted nut by bending the lock plate.
