Remove/install

Remove corresponding front wheel.

Remove engine compartment lining.

Remove bracket (1).

Unscrew nut (2) and remove strut rod (3) from steering knuckle (4).


The ball head must be counterheld and an impact wrench/driver must not be used.
Otherwise the ball head or steering knuckle (4) will be damaged.

Unscrew nut (5) and remove bolt (6).

 Bolt, strut rod to front axle carrier

Remove strut rod (3) from front axle carrier (7).



Check

Check strut rod (3) with seal bellows, ball head and elastomer bearing for damage

Replace elastomer bearing for caster correction.

For a damaged elastomer bearing for caster correction (bearing core off-center) when the strut rod (3) is to be re-used.

Replace elastomer bearing of new strut rod (3) with an elastomer bearing for caster correction.

When replacing the strut rod (3), if an elastomer bearing for caster correction (bearing core off-center) is installed in the removed strut rod (3).
