Detach connector for front axle electrical distributor (X62/6 or X62/7) from major assembly compartment

Pull out wiring harness through the wheel housing

Detach connector for P valve (Y10x1) from left front end

Expose cable set for front axle carrier

For ADS vehicles, detach connector for shock-absorber valve on front axle (Y51x1/2)

 Pay attention to the shock-sensitive acceleration sensor (B24/1)

Remove all plastic covers from the front axle

Raise engine

Detach stabilizer bar mounting bar (21b)


 Installation: check torsion bar rubber mount

Detach steering knuckle (5) from upper transverse control arm

 Fasten steering knuckle with a bracket
onto the spring tower

Remove plastic covers (21g), remove front axle carrier (1) from front end, remove bracket (21)



Detach flexible high-pressure hose (29) and return line (28)

 Lower the front axle slightly if necessary but take care not to stretch the lines; seal off line connections



Lower front axle carrier

Remove upper transverse control arm

Install in the reverse order

 Replace self-locking nuts and bolts.

If necessary, measure front axle carrier
