Detach front left or right brake caliper and secure at vehicle free of tension with lines still connected.

Do not crush or kink or subject lines to tension.
Otherwise, the lines will be damaged and function will be impaired.

 Do not twist the brake hose, and make sure that it is routed correctly.

Detach tie rod from steering knuckle (5).

Unscrew nut from supporting joint and remove supporting joint from steering knuckle (5).

Counterhold the ball head and do not use an impact wrench/driver.
Otherwise the ball head or sealing bellows will be damaged.

Support steering knuckle (5) and secure to prevent it falling.



Extend front axle shaft out of wheel hub and secure against falling down.


Do not knock a seized front axle shaft out of the wheel hub.
Otherwise the angular-contact ball bearing will be damaged.

 Extraction and insertion tool

If the front axle shaft is seized,



Pry front axle shaft out of wheel hub.

Secure suspension strut (1) to prevent it falling.

Remove nut (2).

 Nut, torsion bar linkage to suspension strut/stabilizer bar

Remove nut (3) and screw (4).

 Nut, spring strut to steering knuckle

Spread steering knuckle (5) using spreading tool until suspension strut (1) detaches from steering knuckle (5).

Release and disconnect electrical connector (6).

Unscrew screws (7) and remove suspension strut (1).

 Bolt, suspension strut to suspension strut tower

Check

Check suspension strut (1).

If damage is present,



Replace corresponding component.

Install in the reverse order.
