| Remove/install | ||
1 | Switch off ignition and store transmitter key outside of transmitter range (min. 2 m).
2 | Remove cover above expansion reservoir for brake fluid.
3 | Clean area around cap of expansion reservoir for brake fluid. | Assembly cleaner
4 | Unscrew cap of expansion reservoir for brake fluid and extract some brake fluid.
5 | Remove front left or right wheel and tire assembly.
6 | Release and disconnect electrical connector (2) of right front brakepad wear sensor (S10/2). | On the right side of the vehicle.
Installation: Ensure that electrical connector (2) of right front brakepad wear sensor (S10/2) is routed correctly.
7 | Remove screw (3) and place plug housing (4) to one side. | On the right side of the vehicle.
8 | Remove brake hose (6) from brake caliper (1) and seal exposed connections using suitable stop plugs.
Record plug | |||
9 | Unscrew screws (7) and remove brake caliper (1). | Installation:
Bolt, guide pin to brake caliper
10 | Remove brakepads. | ||
Installation: Brake paste or other lubricants must not be applied to the brakepads.

| |||
Replace brake caliper (1).
14 | Install in the reverse order.
Concluding tasks | |||
15 | Bleed brake system. | ||
Danger | Risk of accident when commissioning the vehicle due to a lack of braking effect when the service brake is operated for the first time after repair work. | Before starting the engine, actuate brake pedal several times until pressure is built up and maintained in the brake system.
16 | Operate brake pedal several times until the brakepads contact the brake disks. | Firm resistance should be noticeable at the brake pedal.
Danger | Risk of death caused by limbs being caught or crushed by rotating parts when performing tests on the brake test stand | Never leave the vehicle unattended on the rollers except in an emergency. Ensure that no one is under the vehicle or near rotating parts during testing. In case of emergency, use the EMERGENCY OFF switch to shut down test stand.
17 | Perform brake test on test stand.
