Remove/install rear spring

Removing

 Danger!

Risk of injury caused by pinching or crushing when working on springs or spring bodies that are under tension

Use only approved tensioning devices; shield off hazard area if necessary.
Inspect special tools for damage and proper operation (visual inspection).
Wear protective gloves.

Remove wheel

Support semi-trailing arm on a suitable vertically adjustable substructure and align so that the spring can be removed unobstructed.

Pay attention to safe condition of substructure

Remove mounting bolt on damper of semi-trailing arm.

Lower the vertically adjustable substructure so far and align so that the spring (1) can be removed without any problems

Remove spring (1) and detach rubber mountings (2 and 3)



Install

Attach rubber mountings (2 and 3) and spring (1)

The yellow color coding (4) is at the top and the blue or red color coding (5) is at the bottom.

Both the springs on a vehicle must have the same tolerance color.
When a spring is installed the color codings should point rearward with reference to the direction of travel in order not to be seen. In the process the start of the scroll mounted on the semi-trailing arm is pointed to the left.

Raise the vertically adjustable substructure so far and align so that the mounting bolt of the damper can be installed without any problems

Pay attention to correct seating of the spring

Install mounting bolt of damper on the semi-trailing arm



Detach vertically adjustable substructure
