1 Press in the bearing outer race of the countershaft bearing using a suitable thrust piece.

2 Measure distance between the contact surface and turned groove for the main shaft bearing in the old and the new intermediate plate. If the dimension of the new intermediate plate does not correspond with the old one, corresponding shims must be enclosed.
For measurement use a flat support of approx. 300 mm length.
Shims are available in thicknesses of 0.1; 0.3; 0.5 mm.
3 Insert shims into the intermediate plate and press in bearing outer race of main shaft bearing.

4 Install bearing pin (70), leaf spring (71), bushing and locking lever (75) together in the intermediate plate and tighten hexagon nut (74).

5 Press reverse idler shaft (46) with reverse idler gear (48) into the intermediate plate.

6 Hammer in cover (78) flush with intermediate plate. Replace O-ring for sealing the shift lever.

7 Insert gearshift lever (79) for 5th and reverse gear in the intermediate plate so that the sinus splines of the gearshift lever (76) and (79) mesh with one another.
8 Remove grease from Allen head bolt, coat with sealant and tighten.

9 Tighten reverse idler shaft (46) with reverse sliding gear (48) in the transmission housing.
Thread of reverse idler shaft outwards.

10 Hammer intermediate plate onto the reverse idler shaft using a plastic mallet until the former centers in the intermediate plate.
11 Remove hexagon head bolt (47) and remove intermediate plate with reverse idler shaft.
12 Press in reverse idler shaft flush with the intermediate plate using a hand press.
