1 Remove anti-rattle washer (arrow).

2 Remove locking ring (57)

3 Remove synchronizer body (56), helical gear (52) with synchronizing ring (53) from countershaft.

With the helical gear (52), the needle cage in the helical gear is also removed.

4 Remove thrust washer (51) from countershaft

The thrust washer is no longer fitted as of transmission end no. 122 8476.

5 Unscrew hexagon bolt (47) for the reverse shaft.

6 Pull off helical gear (37) for 5th gear using puller and remove intermediate plate from transmission housing.

In the event of difficulty, pull off intermediate plate using a puller. This pulls the outer bearing race out of the intermediate plate enabling it to be removed. Pay attention to shims. Now pull off the helical gear for 1st gear, tapered roller bearing and helical gear for 5th gear.
