Remove/install

Remove engine cover.

 Installation: Only install engine cover after the leak test.

Drain off coolant.

Disconnect electrical connector (5).

Remove bleed line (6) from the air intake line upstream of the exhaust gas turbocharger (7) and place to one side.

Seal bleed line (6) with protective cover.

 Set of protective caps

Seal air intake line upstream of the exhaust gas turbocharger (7) with a suitable stop plug.

 Record plug

Remove screw/bolt (2).

 Screw, coolant return line to high-pressure exhaust gas turbocharger

Remove bolt (3) .

 Screw, coolant return line to low-pressure exhaust gas turbocharger

Unscrew bolt (4).

 Screw, coolant return line to coolant line

Remove top coolant return line for exhaust gas turbocharger (1) upward.

Seal opening in the high-pressure exhaust gas turbocharger and in the low-pressure exhaust gas turbocharger with a suitable stop plug.

 Record plug

Remove O-rings (8, 9) from the top coolant return line for the exhaust gas turbocharger (1).

If the top coolant return line for the exhaust gas turbocharger (1) is not replaced.

 Installation: Install new O-rings (8, 9).

Seal top coolant return line for the exhaust gas turbocharger (1) with suitable stop plugs.

If the top coolant return line for the exhaust gas turbocharger (1) is not replaced.

Remove O-ring (10).

 Installation: Replace O-ring (10).

Seal coolant return line with a suitable stop plug.

 Record plug

Check

Check top coolant return line for exhaust gas turbocharger (1) for damage.

If the top coolant return line for the exhaust gas turbocharger (1) is not replaced.

If damage is identified,



replace top coolant return line for exhaust gas turbocharger (1).

Install in the reverse order



 Warning

Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

Perform engine test run and check coolant circuit in the area of the coolant top return line for the exhaust gas turbocharger (1) for leak tightness.

Install engine cover.
