Remove/install

Remove cylinder head (7)

Place cylinder head (7) down on a flat surface

Attach valve assembly tool (9) to the cylinder head

 Screw retaining fork (part 12) into a thread at edge of cylinder head and position thrust piece (part 7) vertically at top valve spring retainer (5).

 Use parts (3, 5, 7, 12, 19) from valve assembly tool case.

Use valve assembly tool (9) to compress valve springs (4)



Use magnetic pin (10) to remove valve collets (6)

 Installation: Ensure the split valve spring retainer locks (6) are properly fitted.



Remove top valve spring cap (5) and valve springs (4)

Inspect top valve spring cap (5) for pitting, replace if necessary..

Use pliers (11) to pull off valve stem seals (3)

 Installation: oil valve stem seals (3) and press on with drift (12).

 Inspect valve stems for ridges, remove burrs if necessary.



Take off bottom valve spring seat (2)

 Inspect bottom valve spring retainer (2) for pitting, replace if necessary.

Raise cylinder head (7), take valves (1) down and out

 Check surface of valve stems for roughness and formation of burrs. (visual inspection or with a nail).

Replace valves with a rough stem surface or formation of burrs.

Install in the reverse order
