Remove

Remove camshaft sprocket (1) with attached timing chain from the exhaust camshaft (2).

 Do not remove camshaft sprocket (1). Fasten timing chain with cable ties to the camshaft sprocket (1).

Remove brackets (4).

Remove hold-down tools(5).

 Holddown device kit

Remove exhaust camshaft (2) and intake camshaft (3).



Check

Check hydraulic valve play compensation elements.

Depending on the findings,



replace affected hydraulic valve play compensation elements.

Remove/install hydraulic valve play compensation elements on left cylinder head

Install

Oil hydraulic valve play compensation elements and camshaft bearings.



Specified engine oils (service) - Overview

Install exhaust camshaft (2) and intake camshaft (3).


Do not mix up exhaust camshaft (2) and intake camshaft (3).
Otherwise, engine damage will occur.

 Markings (6) must stand opposite each other as shown and bores (7) must point in direction of travel, to the left, flush with the top edge of the cylinder head as shown.

If necessary,



Align exhaust camshaft (2) and intake camshaft (3) with each other.

Install hold-down tools (5).

Install brackets (4).

 Screw, camshaft retainer holder to cylinder head

Attach camshaft sprocket (1) with attached timing chain to the exhaust camshaft (2).

 Remove cable ties after attaching.
