

The engine oil level must not lie above the maximum marking.
This can lead to engine damage otherwise.



Remove

 Warning

Risk of burn injuries, suffocation and poisoning when working on the exhaust system and the components connected to it. Risk of suffocation and risk of poisoning caused by inhalation of gaseous and solid components of the exhaust. Risk of poisoning caused by skin contact with solid components of the exhaust.

Wear protective clothing and safety glasses. Use the extraction system. Move people out of the hazard area.

Start engine and warm up to operating temperature.

 Coolant temperature approx. 80 °C.

Remove cylinder head cover.

Check

Turn engine at crankshaft in direction of engine rotation until cam of camshaft (3) at roller-type rocker arm (4) of compensating element (2) to be checked is on its base circle.

Press down compensating element (2) over the roller-type rocker arm (4) with a suitable tool (5) by hand.


Do not use a steel tool; press down compensating element (2) with normal force of the hand.
Prevent damage.

Repeat operation steps 4 and 5 to check the remaining compensating elements (2).

 If several compensating elements (2) drop, the oil ducts and oil feed bores of compensating elements (2) must be checked for contamination.

Depending on the findings.



Blow compressed air through the oil ducts in the flow direction.

If one compensating element (2) drops too strongly compared to the other compensating elements (2),



Replace affected compensating element (2).
