Remove

Remove flywheel/drive plate.

Pull radial shaft sealing ring (1) out of the crankcase (2).


Do not damage the crankshaft and the sealing surface on crankcase (2).
Otherwise, leakage may occur.

Check sealing surface of the radial shaft sealing ring (1) on the crankcase (2) for ridging.

 Deburr sealing surfaces if necessary.



Install

Position base plate (3a) on the crankshaft and tighten with two screws.

Place radial shaft sealing ring (1) on base plate (3a).

 The sealing lip and the protective lip of the radial shaft sealing ring (1) must lie correctly over the whole circumference on the base plate (3a). Place radial shaft sealing ring (1) again if this is not the case.
The radial shaft sealing ring (1) and the contact surface on crankshaft journal must be free of oil and grease. Grease prevents the inclined webs on sealing lip transporting back the engine oil.

Position insertion device (3) on the base plate (3a) and screw on nut.

Screw on nut of the insertion device (3) further and pull in radial shaft sealing ring (1) until the insertion device (3) lies on the crankcase (2).

Unscrew nut of the insertion device (3) and remove insertion device (3) from base plate (3a).

Remove screws of the base plate (3a) alternately out of the crankshaft and remove insertion device (3) with base plate (3a).

Check engine oil level; correct if necessary.



Perform engine test run; in doing so, check engine housing for leak tightness.
