Remove

1

Place camshafts (1) in basic position.

Remove timing case cover (6).

 Crankshaft must not turn during removal of belt pulley (7).

If crankshaft was turned



Provisionally install timing case cover (6) without sealant application and with belt pulley (7).



Check

Check alignment of TDC marking (arrow B) at belt pulley (7) with rib on timing case cover (6).

If crankshaft was turned.

 TDC marking (arrow B) of belt pulley (7) must be aligned with rib on timing case cover (6).

If TDC marking (arrow B) of belt pulley (7) is not aligned with rib on timing case cover (6)



Accordingly turn crankshaft.

Remove belt pulley (7) and timing case cover (6).

If crankshaft was turned.

Check markings (8) and bores (3).

If markings (8) are not, as shown, in alignment and/or bores (3) are not, as shown, pointing towards left in the direction of travel so that in alignment with upper edge of cylinder head



Reposition timing chain (9) on camshaft sprockets (4, 5).

Remove/install camshaft sprocket

Check whether marking (arrow A) of balance shaft (10) points vertically upwards.

If marking (arrow A) is not pointing vertically upwards



Remove camshaft sprocket (4), correct position of balance shaft (10), reposition timing chain (9) on balance shaft (10) and reinstall camshaft sprocket (4).

Remove/install camshaft sprocket

Install

Install timing case cover (6).
