Remove/install

Move steering gear (9) to center position.

Steering wheel must not be turned when the steering gear (9) is unfastened.
Otherwise, the position of the unfastened steering gear (9) will change in an uncontrolled manner and there is a risk of damaging outer component parts of the steering gear (9).

Remove lower engine compartment lining

 Installation: Install bottom engine compartment lining only after the leak test.

Drain engine oil.

Remove screws (6) and remove strut (7).

Remove screws (12) and remove strut (13).

Disconnect electrical connection (2).

Remove screws (8) and position steering gear (9) as far back and as low down as necessary to enable access to screws (11).

Carefully position steering gear (9).
Otherwise, the boots of the tie rods may be damaged.

Remove screws (3, 11) in reverse order of the tightening procedure.

 Installation: Replace molded seal.

 Warning
