Remove alternator

Remove oil pan

Disconnect electrical connection (2) for engine oil pump valve on timing case cover (1)

Disconnect electrical connection (3) on engine oil pump valve

Attach integral carrier

Remove engine hoist

Remove trim panel of cylinder head cover

Remove line (8)

 To do this, remove screw/bolts (9) .

Remove vacuum hose (6) from vacuum valve (5)

Remove hose (4)

 To do so, remove screw/bolt (11).

Place hose (4) with vacuum line (6) to one side

Remove bracket (7) with vacuum valve (5)

Remove bracket (10)

Remove tensioning device for poly-V belt

Remove belt pulley for crankshaft

Remove front cover at cylinder head

Remove screw/bolts (12) of timing case cover (1) in reverse order of tightening procedure

 Installation: Observe tightening procedure for timing case cover (1).

 Bolt, timing case cover to crankcase

Remove cylinder head bolts (13) at timing case cover (1)

 Installation: First tighten screw/bolts (12), then tighten screw/bolts (13).

 Bolt, cylinder head to timing case cover

Notes on sealant path for timing case cover

Do not hammer tool for prying off in between timing case cover (1) and crankcase.
The sealing surfaces can be damaged otherwise.

 Installation: Observe notes on sealant path of timing case cover (1).

Install in the reverse order



Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.
