 Warning

Risk of injury to skin and eyes suffering scalding from contact with hot coolantspray. Risk of poisoning from swallowing coolant.

Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90 °C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers.
Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.

Remove cylinder head cover

Remove sound insulation mat (1)

 To do this, remove screws (2).

Remove heat shield(3)

 To do this, unscrew screw/bolts.

 Screw/bolt, heat shield to exhaust manifold

Remove exhaust gas recirculation line (4)

 To do this, unscrew screw/bolts.

 Installation: Clean sealing surfaces and replace seals.

Remove screw/bolt/bolts (5)

 Bolt, exhaust gas recirculation line to rear cylinder head cover

Remove cover (7)


Do not use sharp-edged tools.
Damage may occur otherwise.

 To do this remove screw/bolts (6) and cover (7) from guide pin. Collect coolant which flows out.

 Installation: Replace seals.

 Bolt, cover on cylinder head

Clean

Clean contact surfaces on cover (7), cylinder head and timing case cover

Cold degreasing agent/cold cleaning solvent HAKU 1025-920

Install in the reverse order



Check

 Warning

Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.
