Remove

1

Remove camshafts.

Remove coolant hose (8) from connection fitting (3).

Remove screw (9).

Remove clamping device.

Remove screw (6) from the alternator carrier (7).

Loosen cylinder head bolts (2) in reverse order of tightening procedure.

Remove cylinder head bolts (2).

Remove cylinder head (1) from crankcase.

 Aid of helper required.

Remove cylinder head gasket (4) from crankcase.



Clean

Clean threaded holes (5) of the cylinder head bolts (2) in the crankcase.

Clean sealing surfaces on cylinder head (1) and on crankcase.



Check

Check cylinder head (1) for visible damage and flatness.

Permissible deviation in flatness of bottom contact surface

If there are problems,



Replace cylinder head(1).



Install

Place cylinder head gasket (4) on the crankcase and align.

 The marking "TOP" on the cylinder head gasket (4) must point upwards.

 Install new cylinder head gasket (4).

Place cylinder head (1) on the crankcase.

 Aid of helper required.

Screw in cylinder head bolts (2) and screw (6) of the alternator carrier (7) up to end stop.

 Replace cylinder head bolts (2) and wet on the threads and contact surfaces with engine oil.

Tighten cylinder head bolts (2) according to the tightening procedure.

Tighten screw (6) on the alternator carrier (7).

Install clamping device.

Tighten screw (9).

Attach coolant hose (8) to the connection fitting (3).

 Replace clamp.

 Warning

Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

Perform engine test run and check engine in the area of the cylinder head (1) for leak tightness.
