Remove

Remove air filter housing.

Remove cover of cylinder head cover.

Unscrew screw/bolt (2), remove bleed line (1) from bracket (4) and place to one side.

Remove screws/bolts (5, 6) and remove bracket (4).

Unclip electric line (3) from front cover (14).

Remove oil filter cover (7).

Remove screws/bolts (9) and place boost pressure control pressure transducer (Y77/10) with bracket (8) to one side.

 Removal: Do not release and disconnect electrical connector (10); do not remove vacuum lines (11).

Release and disconnect electrical connector at intake camshaft solenoid (Y49/10) and exhaust camshaft solenoid (Y49/11).

Remove screws/bolts (12).

Pry off front cover (14) from cylinder head with suitable screws/bolts over the pry off screw (13).



Clean

Clean sealing surfaces on front cover (14), on cylinder head and on cylinder head cover.

Do not use any sharp-edged tools or abrasive paper.
The sealing surfaces can be damaged otherwise.

Install

Remove screws/bolts used for prying off.

Apply sealant to front cover (14).

Position front cover (14) on cylinder head and tighten screws/bolts (12) evenly.

Connect electrical connection to intake camshaft solenoid (Y49/10) and exhaust camshaft solenoid (Y49/11)

Screw down bracket (8) along with boost pressure control pressure transducer (Y77/10) with screws/bolts (9).

Install oil filter cover (7).

Clip electric line (3) onto front cover (14).

Tighten bracket (4) with screws/bolts (5).

Screw oil dipstick with screw/bolt (6) down onto bracket (4).

 Warning

Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.
