Check/adjust friction value of drive pinion gear

 Danger

Risk of death caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform.

Align vehicle between vehicle lift columns and position the four support plates at the vehicle lift support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer.

 Attach torque meter (5) to collar nut (3).

 Turn torque meter(5) clockwise with a constant speed and read out measurement value .

If measurement value is below tolerance range,



Adjust friction value at drive pinion (4).

 Remove torque meter (5) from collar nut (3).

Attach  retainer wrench (2) to drive flange (1) with two screws.

Increase tightening torque of collar nut (3) within tolerance .

Detach  retainer wrench (2) from drive flange (1).

Determine friction value  at drive pinion (4).

 To do so, repeat operation steps 1 to 3.

If measurement value is still below tolerance range,



Increase tightening torque of collar nut (3) further within tolerance.

 Do not loosen or turn back the collar nut (3).
Otherwise components will be damaged.

If the tightening torque of the collar nut (3) is above the tolerance range as a result of adjusting the friction value,



Replace the rear axle differential.
