Remove/install rear spring

Removing

 Danger!

Risk of death caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform.

Align vehicle between columns of vehicle lift and position four support plates at vehicle lift support points specified by vehicle manufacturer.

Use only approved tensioning devices; shield off hazard area if necessary.
Inspect special tools for damage and proper operation (visual inspection).
Wear protective gloves.

Lift/jack up vehicle

Support rear axle with transmission lifter

Detach spring bracket(1) and spring plate (2)

Detach rear spring (4) from front spring bracket

Detach rear spring (4) with spring shackle (7) from rear spring bracket

Lower rear axle and remove rear spring (4)

 Avoid damaging the brake hoses otherwise these may leak.

Detach spring shackle (7) from rear spring (4)

Check bearing bushings in rear spring (4) and spring shackle (7)

 Replace the bearing bushings if necessary; see: 

Replace bearing bushings in rear spring and spring shackle

Install

Attach spring shackle (7) to small bearing eye (rear) on rear spring (4)

 Replace nut (3).

 Before tightening the nut (3), adjust the installed dimension, see: 

Attach rear spring (4) to front spring bracket and with spring shackle (7) to rear spring bracket

 Do not tighten the front and rear spring mountings yet otherwise the spring bushings will be distorted.

 Replace nut (3).

 Pay attention to the installation position of the rear spring (4)! Install with the larger bearing eye (arrow) towards the front.

Lift rear axle

 Pay attention to correct seat of center bolt in the mounting hole of the rear axle.

Mount spring plate (2)

Mount spring bracket (1)

 Replace nuts (6).



Lower vehicle

Tighten front and rear spring mounting

 The front and rear spring mounting must be tightened with the suspension compressed.


