Remove/install

Drain off coolant.

Remove upper front crossmember.

Remove coolant hoses (2) from the additional cooler (1).

 Collect coolant which flows out.

 Commercially available devices/tools
Collecting pan

 Installation: Check clamps (3) for re-usability.

 Hose clamp pliers

If one or more clamps (3) cannot be reused,



Replace affected clamps (3).

Unscrew bolt (4).

Unhook bracket of the right automatic transmission oil cooler from the additional cooler (1).

Engine 699.305 in model 470 with transmission 700.770

Remove the bracket (7).

 To do this, remove expansion rivet (9) and remove screws (6, 8).

 Installation: Check expansion rivet (9) for damage.

If the expansion rivet (9) is damaged,



replace expansion rivet (9).

Remove additional cooler (1).


Carefully remove additional cooler (1) upward.
Otherwise, damage may occur to the additional cooler (1), the condenser, and the automatic transmission oil cooler.

Install in the reverse order.



 Warning

Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.
