Warm engine up to operating temperature

Coolant temperature approx. 80 °C

Set heating to maximum capacity

Danger!

Risk of injury to skin and eyes from scalding from hot coolant which splashes out. Risk of poisoning from swallowing coolant.

Do not open the cooling system unless the coolant temperature is below 90 °C. Open cap slowly and allow the pressure to release. Do not pour coolant into containers for drinks.

Wear protective gloves, protective clothes, and eye protection.

Take off cooling system cap (2)

Replace cooling system cap (2) if corrosion present

Inspect coolant level, adjust if necessary

Attach tester (3) to expansion reservoir (1)

Pressurize cooling system

Pressure approx. 1.4 bar

Inspect all pipes and hoses of the cooling and heating system, radiator, coolant pump, coolant pump housing, cap of coolant thermostat, oil-water heat exchanger and cylinder head gasket for loss of coolant. Inspect condition and installation of hose clips, tighten if necessary
