Risk of explosion caused by fuel igniting, risk of poisoning caused by inhaling and swallowing fuel as well as risk of injury to eyes and skin caused by contact with fuel.

No fire, sparks, open flames or smoking.
Pour fuels only into suitable and appropriately marked containers.

Wear protective clothing when handling fuel.

When moving components, ensure that no body parts or limbs are within the operating range of moving parts.

Open engine hood

Remove the partition wall between the wheelhouse liners

Remove air filter housing

Remove the paneling (2) by detaching the clamp and cable tie

Loosen the engine wiring harness from the fuel distributor rail (1)

Unscrew the cap (9) from the service valve (10)

Reduce fuel pressure with the pressure hose via the service valve (10)

 Collect fuel in a suitable container.

Disconnect the fuel line (3) from the fuel distributor rail (1)

 Allow escaping fuel to drain into a suitable container.



Remove the electrical connectors at the fuel injection valves (Y62)

Unscrew bolts (8) on the intake manifold (22)



Lift fuel distributor rail (1) and fuel injection valves (Y62) from intake manifold (22)

 Installation: Check the sealing ring (12) for damage and replace if necessary.

 Installation: Moisten the sealing ring (12) with antifriction agent before inserting the fuel injection valves (Y62).

Check fuel injection valves (Y62) with STAR DIAGNOSIS

Connect STAR DIAGNOSIS and read out fault memory

If necessary: 

Replace fuel injection valves

Install in the reverse order

 Danger!

Risk of accident caused by vehicle starting off by itself when engine is running. Risk of injury caused by contusions and burns during starting procedure or when working near engine

Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving.
Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes.
Do not grasp hot or rotating parts.

Carry out engine test run and check fuel system for leaks

 In the event of oil loss determine and eliminate cause, otherwise malfunctions, transmission damage, and serious environmental pollution may occur.
