Remove/install belt pulley/vibration damper

Remove/install

Open engine hood

Remove front engine cover

See Remove air filter housing.

Remove the engine air intake ducts of the air filters

Remove poly-V belt

Install retaining lock for crankshaft/starter ring gear

Remove center bolt (3)



Detach belt pulley/vibration damper (2) by hand

 Installation: Align feather key (4). Place belt pulley/vibration damper (2) at crankshaft and using light rotary movements, ensure that the groove of the belt pulley /vibration damper (2) engages with the feather keys (4) of the crankshaft.

Inspect tread at hub of belt pulley/vibration damper (2) for scoring and galling by the crankshaft radial sealing ring (5)

If necessary: 

Replace belt pulley/vibration damper (2)

Replace front crankshaft radial seal (5)

If replacing the belt pulley/vibration damper (2), or if there are leaks at the crankshaft radial sealing ring (5).

Install in the reverse order

 Danger!

Risk of accident caused by vehicle starting off by itself when engine is running. Risk of injury caused by contusions and burns during starting procedure or when working near the engine as it is running

Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving by itself.
Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes.
Do not touch hot or rotating parts.
