Remove/install belt pulley/vibration damper

Remove/install

Switch off ignition

Remove intake air ducts and front engine cover

Remove/install air filter housing

Remove poly-V-belt

Install retaining lock for crankshaft/starter ring gear

Remove center bolt (3)

 Installation: Replace center bolt (3).



Detach belt pulley/vibration damper (2) from crankshaft

 Installation: Place belt pulley/vibration damper (2) on crankshaft rotate to ensure that feather key (4) of the crankshaft is engaged in groove of the belt pulley/vibration damper (2).



Checking

Check contact surface of crankshaft radial sealing ring (5) at hub of the belt pulley/vibration damper (2)

 Check for scoring and galling, if necessary, replace belt pulley/vibration damper (2).

Replace front crankshaft radial seal (5)

When replacing belt pulley /vibration damper (2) or in the event of leaks on the crankshaft radial sealing ring (5).

Install in the reverse order



Checking

 Danger!

Risk of accident caused by vehicle starting off by itself when engine is running. Risk of injury caused by contusions and burns during starting procedure or when working near the running engine

Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving by itself.
Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes.
Do not grasp hot or rotating parts.

Conduct engine test run and check the engine for leaks
