Remove engine air intake ducts of the air filters

Remove the air filter housing from the cylinder head covers upwards

 Installation: Slightly moisten the rubber retainers on the cylinder head covers with lubricating fluid.

Remove air pump switchover valve (Y32) completely with bracket (2)

 Screw/bolt, switchover valve bracket to cylinder head

Remove right air shutoff valve (3)

Remove front cover at the right cylinder head

Remove ignition coils for cylinder 1 to 3 (T1/1–T1/3)

Remove cover from centrifuge

Remove the engine's plug from the ME-SFI [ME] control unit, remove the ME-SFI [ME] control unit from the cylinder head cover and place to the side

Remove right bracket (10) of the ME-SFI [ME] control unit

 Screw/bolt, control unit bracket to cylinder head cover

Remove screw (11) securing ground line

 Screw/bolt, ground line to cylinder head cover

Unscrew screws (13) and place cable duct (14) to the side

Detach the cylinder head cover (12)

 Carefully pry off the cylinder head cover with screwdriver.

 Installation: Read the information about the sealant path and tightening procedure: 

Clean

Clean sealing surfaces on cylinder head and on cylinder head cover (12)

Remove sealant

Do not use any sharp-edged tools or abrasive paper.
The sealing surfaces will be damaged otherwise.

Install in the reverse order

 Warning

Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.
