Remove/install cylinder head cover

Remove/install

Remove air filter housing

Remove trim panel of cylinder head cover (1)

 Installation: Install cylinder head cover trim (1) only after checking for leaks.

Remove injectors

 Seal openings using rags.

Disconnect engine wiring harness at cylinder head (3)

To remove cylinder head cover

Remove bolts on cylinder head cover (1)

 The cylinder head cover (1) is attached by ten bolts to cylinder head (3).



Raise cylinder head cover (1) until the fuel manifold (2) is accessible

Disconnect fuel manifold (2)

 Installation: Ensure correct seating of fuel manifold (2).

Remove cylinder head cover (1)

 Installation: Clean sealing surfaces, inspect seal, replace if necessary.

Remove oil separator (4)

 Only when replacing cylinder head cover (1).

Remove camshaft sensor (B6/19)

 Only when replacing cylinder head cover (1).

Install in the reverse order

 Danger!

Risk of accident caused by vehicle starting off by itself when engine is running. Risk of injury caused by contusions and burns during starting procedure or when working near the engine as it is running

Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving by itself.
Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes.
Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

Conduct engine test run and check engine for leaks in the area of cylinder head cover (1)
