As part of ongoing technical developments the basic belt drive and the hydraulic pump belt drives were optimized. The individual changes, as well as the procedures in the case of repairs, are described below.
With the installation of the poly-V-belt tensioner, bear in mind the changed work instructions AR13.25-G-3200B.

The series production breakpoint for modifications to the basic belt drive applies as of engine end no.: 350 165; conversion of the belt drive on hydraulic pumps applies as of engine end no.:
400 305.

After the following repairs, erase the old SAA from the vehicle data card and replace with the new SAA.

1 Modifications, new features in the basic belt drive

 New poly-V-belt tensioner from Gates (previously Dayco).

 New alternator belt pulley dia. 61mm, previously
dia. 75 mm, see SI15.40-G-0002A in combination with

SM15.40-G-0003A.

 New poly-V-belt (Gates) with modified length.

1.1 Repair procedure in the case of damage to the
basic belt drive

If poly-V-belt tensioner fails (Dayco):

 Installation of new poly-V belt tensioner (Gates), plus new guide pulley Ø 75 mm (Gates) and appropriate poly-V belt (Gates).

If guide pulley fails (Dayco):

 Installation of previous guide pulley (Dayco) with dia.
106 mm.

If poly-V-belt fails (Dayco):

 Installation of previous poly-V-belt (Dayco).

If alternator and/or alternator belt pulley fails:

 Check installed alternator belt pulley; the installed belt pulley must always have the same diameter as the removed belt pulley, see SI15.40-G-0002A in combination with SM15.40-G-0003A.

2 Modifications, new features in the hydraulic pump belt drive

 New poly-V belt tensioner (Gates) with spacer washer.
 The currently used carrier is not compatible with the new poly-V belt tensioner (Gates) and spacer washer because the free milling Ø 90 mm for the spacer washer is not present on the carrier.

 New poly-V-belt (Gates) with modified length.

2.1 Repair procedure in the case of damage to the poly-V-belt tensioner (Dayco).

If poly-V-belt tensioner fails:

 Installation of the previous poly-V-belt tensioner (Dayco).
 If it is necessary to exchange the poly-V-belt (Dayco) for the poly-V-belt (Gates), the matching carrier must be installed. Otherwise damage may occur in the belt drive.
