Preconditions/notes regarding checking the delivery rate of the fuel metering pump

Remove tank-side fuel line (51) from metering pump (Y23/5)

Remove, clean and reinstall fuel strainer of metering pump (Y23/5)

Remove pressure-side fuel line (53) from metering pump (Y23/5)

Connect measuring hose to pressure side of metering pump (Y23/5) and insert end of measuring hose into a measuring glass

Connect multimeter for monitoring battery voltage to battery

To measure the delivery rate, a battery voltage of 11 V to 13 V must be present.

Bleeding

Switch on hot-air auxiliary heater

The fuel feed begins after approx. 1 minute. To bleed the fuel line, allow the heater to run until the fuel is discharged evenly and bubble-free at the measuring hose.

Switch off hot-air auxiliary heater

Empty measuring glass and insert end of measuring hose into measuring glass again

Measure

Switch on hot-air auxiliary heater

The fuel feed begins after approx. 1 minute. Hold the measuring glass level with the heater during measurement.

Wait for fuel delivery to stop

The auxiliary heater control unit stops delivering fuel after approx. 90 s.

Switch off hot-air auxiliary heater

Determine feed quantity in measuring glass and compare with specified values

Replace fuel metering pump

Remove multimeter from battery

Detach measuring hose from metering pump (Y23/5) and reattach pressure-side fuel line (53)
