The specified-value basic dimension is dictated by the measurement stop on the adjustment device.
1 Clamp dial indicator (1) with extension (2) into shaft of adjustment device (3) and position at measurement stop (4).
2 Set dial indicator (1) with approx. 2 mm preload and set to zero.
This adjustment corresponds to the specified basic dimension.
3 Remove measurement stop (4) from adjustment device (3).
W35.30-0023-01
4 Mount magnetic block (5) onto drive pinion.
5 Insert bearing shells (6) of adjustment device into bearing mountings.
W35.30-0024-01
6 Mount adjustment device (3) with dial indicator (1) and extension (2) into bearing shells (6) so that the tip of the extension (2) makes contact with the magnetic block (5).
7 Read off measurement deviation.
8 Determine installed dimension.
Example: Dimensional deviation, e.g. 0.1 mm + basic dimension = measured installed dimension
W35.30-0025-01
Each drive pinion and crown wheel belonging to a gear set is marked with an engraved number. Only gear sets with the same number may be installed. The designations can be found on the end face of the drive pinion and on the beveled edge of the crown wheel.
Example: Gear seat designation 527 + 0.3
The first number (527) is the number of the pinion / crown wheel gear set.
The second number (+0.3) is the measurement deviation from the basic dimension in mm, i.e. + 0.3 mm.
Determine installed dimension:
Example gear set 527 + 0.3
Ring gear basic dimension 410 mm 98 mm
Measurement deviation on the
Crown wheel + 0.3 mm
Adjustment dimension
for gear set 527 thus 98,3 mm
Measured installed dimension
(Basic dimension with measurement
deviation) 98,1 mm
To achieve the basic dimension, a 0.2 mm thicker shim (max. 3 each) has to be inserted between the axle housing and axle bevel gear housing.
In other words, the distance from the center of the crown wheel to the end face of the drive pinion must be increased by 0.2 mm.
Shims are available in sizes 0.1 mm; 0.15 mm; 0.20 mm; 0.35 mm; 0.50 mm; 1.0 mm and 1.50 mm.
9 If necessary, remove axle bevel gear housing again and correct distance between axle bevel gear housing and axle housing using shims.
10 Install axle bevel gear housing and repeat measurement.
