The two mass flywheel must not be reworked or repaired.
1 Inspect the two mass flywheel for external damage.
If the two mass flywheel has been thermally overloaded, tears (1) are visible, if the centering wheel (2) has broken away or more than minimal traces of grease are found in the transmission bell, in the area between the primary and secondary flywheel mass are found, then the two mass flywheel must be replaced.

2 Fix a dial indicator with a dial indicator holder to the primary flywheel (3) of the two mass flywheel.
A measurement can be taken with the two mass flywheel installed. Set the measuring tip of the dial indicator to height of the pressure plate fixing and set the dial indicator scale to zero.
3 Manually press the secondary flywheel (4) down close to the dial indicator and read off measured value A.

4 Manually press the secondary flywheel (4) against the dial indicator and read off measured value B.
5 Determine the tilting play.
The tilting play is calculated from the difference between measured value A and B. If the tilting play is more than 4 mm, then repeat the measurement of the tilting play when uninstalled. To do this, secure the two mass flywheel with a suitable adapter in the vise. If this measurement also gives a tilting play of more than 4 mm, then the two mass flywheel must be replaced.

6 Remove the two-mass flywheel
7 Secure the removed two mass flywheel with a suitable adapter in the vise.
8 Set the measuring tip of the dial indicator at the outside edge of the secondary flywheel (4) and set the dial indicator scale to zero.
9 Manually push the secondary flywheel (4) towards the measuring axle and read off measured value C.
10 Manually shift the secondary flywheel (4) by 180° towards the measuring axle and read off measured value D.
11 Determine the radial bearing clearance
The radial bearing play is calculated from the difference between measured value C and measured value D. If the radial bearing play is greater than 0.3 mm, then the two mass flywheel must be replaced.
12 Remove the dial indicator and the dial indicator holder .
