Remove bracket for boost pressure control aneroid capsule

Remove heat shield (8)

 To do this, remove bolts (7).

 Bolt, starter heat shield to bracket

Pull out starter (M1) with attached lines from timing case cover (6) and press to the side

 Pull starter (M1) out until the retaining lock (4) can be inserted into the starter opening of the timing case cover (6).

Insert retaining lock (4) in the starter opening of the timing case cover (6)

Remove screw/bolts (2)

 Installation: Replace screw/bolts (2).

 Screw/bolt, two-mass flywheel or drive plate to crankshaft

Remove retaining lock (4) from starter opening of the timing case cover (6)

 Retaining lock

Remove flywheel (1)

 Installation: The retaining pin of the crankshaft must engage in the mounting hole of the flywheel (1)



Check friction surface on flywheel (1) for crack formation and wear

In event of cracking or wear



install new flywheel (1).

Check ring gear for the flywheel (1) for the damage

If damaged



install new flywheel (1).

Check the guide bearing (3) for damage and wear

In event of damage and/or wear



install new flywheel (1).

Check radial shaft sealing ring for leaktightness

In case of leaks



Replace radial shaft sealing ring.

Install in the reverse order

 Flywheel, drive plate, vibration damper, starter ring gear
